There
is so much which could be said about life within Alon, but the
most accurate description would be to define our community as a
big family. God clearly states that He puts the lonely in
families
(Psalm 68:6) and we have
seen how individuals and even families who were lonely have been
placed in an environment where there is abundance of fellowship
and camaraderie. Apart from organised meetings and functions
which form an integral part of our spiritual well being, we also
enjoy a life of much interaction in the fields of work, sport,
relaxation and socialising. “For in him we live and move and
have our being.”
(Acts 17:28). Whether we are
playing tennis, going on holiday together or simply enjoying a
barbeque, we believe in the importance and centrality of Jesus
in everything we do. We however do not support legalism and
often enjoy dance evenings, pizza evenings, movie nights and
other moments of fun and enjoyable entertainment together.
Hospitality is an important aspect of our lives and (we trust)
can readily be experienced in any home at Alon. We pray
together, attend meetings together, go on outreach together and
spend much of our lives together. In unity we believe we will
find God’s blessing for our lives… “How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!”
(Psalm 133:1). Many visitors
pass through our doors every year as we reach out to local
communities with musical shows as well as through our
restaurants and other functions we host from time to time.
Visitors often stay over at Alon, either to spend time with us
spiritually or simply to enjoy a break from their busy lives.
For this and other reasons, we have established beautiful guest
houses on the farm.
