John and Lydia tell: Our
lives started in two very distant parts of the world, South African and
Germany. We both studied medicine in our home nations but met in South
Africa. Lydia was raised in a small town in the north western part of
Germany. She thought she was a Christian, however that’s because she
attended church once a year at Christmas time. Both experienced a void
within which could not be filled. Independently each one found salvation
in Jesus. It was at Alon that friendship turned to marriage in April 2002.
And so living on the farm opened a whole new dimension in their lives.
Instead of selfish ambition, they were filled with vision for God’s
kingdom. They continue: Medically speaking we could not have children,
nevertheless we prayed and trusted the Lord. Today we have a beautiful,
lively 3 year old son, Matt. We now trust the Lord for a second child.
Also we were blessed to be able to build a home at Alon - free of debt.
Life in the community has helped and encouraged us, even to be set free of
many personal issues. Daily we both work at a government hospital, serving
mostly poor rural people. At present this is our mission field. We are
grateful for the joy of the Lord in our lives and share an excitement for
what is to come. |
